Leading UK digital signage company, Visimi Digital, has been selected to showcase a collective portrait of UK life during lockdown for the National Portrait Gallery’s Hold Still exhibition. Spearheaded by the Duchess of Cambridge, the community exhibition is being held at the National Memorial Arboretum, where Visimi Digital, as part of its screen hire service, has installed six robust, 55” freestanding totem displays in the main amphitheatre.
Installed for a seven-week period, the digital totems are being utilized to display inspiring photographs that have been submitted by members of the public to document their experiences of the Covid-19 lockdown. Of the 31,598 photographs sent in for the project, 100 are being displayed, chosen for how closely they capture one of three themes – Helpers and Heroes, Your New Normal, and Acts of Kindness.
Approached by the National Memorial Arboretum for this nationwide project, Visimi Digital was tasked with the challenge of providing a tough, high-impact totem solution that is easy to use and maintain. With an out-of-the-box plug and play solution, the totems ensure hassle-free maintenance, enabling content to be uploaded quickly and easily over the network.
Flanking one of the site’s large outdoor screens, the digital totems’ layout maximizes the visual impact of this striking digital showcase. Enveloping visitors, the totems are arranged equidistantly from one another in a circle to offer a more deeply immersive viewing experience.
Ideal for unsupervised public environments, the weather-proof IP65 totems offer 24/7 operation, and come with toughened, tamper-resistant glass, as well as lockable rear panels. Ultra-slim with a narrow bezel design, they bring the on-screen content to the fore, displaying imagery in crisp, eye-catching 1080p high definition.
With wider viewing angles, the high brightness screens also ensure optimal visibility, even in direct sunlight, capturing visitors’ attention, as they walk around the exhibit.

Free of charge to members of the public, the Hold Still exhibition will run until 6thDecember.
