NEC Display Solutions has unveiled the flagship member of its line of professional installation projectors, the PH1000U, As the first member of the new flagship range, the PH1000U is a heavy-duty projector designed for rental and staging applications, fixed installations in conference halls and higher educational environments, or events.

Powered by a unique 3-chip DLP system, the PH1000U is an 11,000 ANSI lumen WUXGA (1920×1200) resolution projector. It also utilises a dual-lamp system for added redundancy. This, combined with the Integrated Device Technology HQV 10bit signal processing and scaling system as well as edge blending and stacking, is said to produce superior video processing using pixel-based, motion-adaptive de-interlacing to remove undesirable motion artefacts.

The PH1000U provides added flexibility by being the world’s first projector that can use STv2 standard level extension modules based on the Open Pluggable Specification (OPS). This is the second model in NEC’s projector line-up to offer OPS support, which offers a range of extension modules, including an HD/SD-SDI and single board computer (SBC).

The Integrated Rigging and Stacking mount ensures that the PH Series can be installed and configured in a variety of ways to best suit the users’ requirements. Input is handled via a wide array of connectivity options, including DisplayPort, HDMI and RGB connectors, as well as NEC’s Projector Viewer function. Thanks to a host of extended network and multimedia features, users are also able to stream content over the network from any Windows network drive and administrators can monitor and control these projectors through a wired connection or over an optional Wi-Fi module.

The PH Series units will be shipped without a lens, giving customers the option to select the lens best suited for their needs. There is a choice of six high-quality bayonet lenses supporting the memory lens function, which adjusts the lens position automatically and individually, according to the input signal or previous setting.

“The launch of the PH Series delivers a new evolution in installation projectors for corporate users, higher education, and especially for rental and staging environments,” said Gerd Kaiser, product line Manager Large Venue Projectors at NEC Display Solutions Europe. “The capabilities this product brings to the market are unrivalled, from its stacking and edge blending to its high-end lenses. Its feature set allows the projector to be customised perfectly in each and every application. These innovations epitomise the message behind our long-lasting tradition of performance and ensure the best picture quality, ultimate flexibility and a low total cost of ownership.”

The NEC PH1000U will be available from October 2011 with an estimated retail value of £25,659 excl VAT (without lens). The package supplied includes IR Remote Control, power cord, users manual on CD-ROM and quick setup guide. NEC Display Solutions Europe offers a three-year pan-European service warranty and the lamp is covered for six months or 1,000 hours, whichever comes first.
