Blue Billboard has selected Xibo Digital Signage and Sony BRAVIA professional displays to power its advertising signage network across Surrey.

Through this partnership, Blue Billboard has become the first global customer to implement the new Sony Cloud APIand Zero Touch Provisioning (ZTP) with Xibo’s software solution. This integration facilitates quicker deployment, simplified scaling, and the remote management of their signage network.

As Blue Billboard’s digital signage network grew rapidly, the company recognised the need for more control over deployed displays. Previously, maintaining the network was costly and time-consuming, requiring onsite visits to make simple updates. The company had been using Android-based displays with standalone media player hardware, but with their expanding network, ease of installation and management became increasingly critical. Additionally, service level agreement (SLA) uptime was impacted, as outages could not be addressed quickly without remote management capabilities. To resolve these issues, Blue Billboard began seeking displays equipped with system-on-a-chip (SoC) technology, alongside remote device management and zero-touch provisioning.

In 2024, Blue Billboard was tasked by a local council in Surrey to deploy a 25-screen Digital Out-of-Home (DooH) advertising network. This project provided the ideal opportunity to implement Sony BRAVIA 65BZ35L and 55BZ35Ldisplays, featuring system-on-a-chip technology, integrated with the new Xibo and Sony ZTP solution.

“We are excited to see the first global deployments featuring our advanced Cloud API and Zero-Touch Provisioning solutions,” said Yigit Erol, B2B Partner Development Manager at Sony Europe. “These tools enhance cloud-based device management and simplify large-scale screen deployments, as well as partner application installations, through a simple QR code scan. Our solutions are changing the landscape of the professional display industry, helping CMS partners and system integrators streamline their workflows.”

Blue Billboard chose Xibo and Sony for their cost-effective scalability, remote management capabilities, and zero-touch provisioning (ZTP) support. They partnered with Theravada, a retail solutions provider, to design and install the custom infrastructure needed for the project, including surrounds and totems.

“I’m impressed with how simple it has been to set up and deploy new displays,” said Justin Howard, Technical Director at Blue Billboard. “Zero-touch provisioning eliminates several steps, and the functionality continues to improve.”

By moving to Sony BRAVIA SoC devices with ZTP integration through Xibo, Blue Billboard has been able to deployscreens more quickly than before, allowing for the rapid scaling of their DooH network and generating increased revenue. The ability to provision devices efficiently, manage them remotely, and enhance overall network uptime has significantly improved operational efficiency.

“Together, Sony and Xibo deliver a high-quality digital signage and DooH solution that any business should consider when upgrading or scaling their network,” added Justin.
