ST Engineering Antycip (Antycip), a European specialist in simulation and immersive visualisation solutions, has delivered a three-sided immersive CAVE at the ICube laboratory at the University of Strasbourg, marking a new milestone in the development of immersive academic infrastructures in France. This new installation enhances the InVirtuo platform, part of ICube’s GAIA research cluster (Computer Graphics, Analysis and Artificial Intelligence), and forms part of the national EQUIPEX+ CONTINUUM programme, which focuses on enabling collaborative continuity between digital systems and human interaction.

Designed and integrated by Antycip, the CAVE configuration presents three specialist projection screen faces, a custom mechanical support structure, next-generation BARCO I600 projectors and a high-precision custom floor surface. The entire system has been carefully calibrated to deliver seamless visual and geometric continuity, ensuring a stable and realistic immersive experience. Thanks to this architecture, users can move freely within a real-time rendered 3D environment that dynamically adapts to their viewpoint, enabling fully immersive interaction and collaboration. Developed to support both research and teaching, the CAVE will contribute to the work of the IGG team (Geometric and Graphical Computing) in areas such as human-computer interaction, scientific visualisation and virtual reality. It will also support teaching activities within the Image and 3D Master’s programme and the Computer Science Engineering Master’s track – Image, Virtual Reality, Interaction and Games.

In addition, the facility will be used for industrial services and collaborative research projects conducted through the GAIA platform. “This immersive CAVE provides us with a state-of-the-art platform for both our research and teaching activities. It enables us to explore new forms of collaboration and experimentation by combining different immersive technologies, from the CAVE environment to VR headsets, creating rich and interactive hybrid environments,” explained Dominique Bechmann, Professor of Computer Science, University of Strasbourg.

Johan Besnainou, Director France & Spain, Antycip
added: “This project perfectly illustrates our commitment to supporting academic institutions in adopting the most advanced immersive technologies. We are delighted to have supported the University of Strasbourg in delivering this installation.” With this installation, Antycip further reinforces its role as a trusted partner for academic institutions across Europe, designing bespoke immersive systems that place technology at the service of knowledge, collaboration and scientific innovation.
