Sharp Visual Solutions Europe will unveil a new 20-inch class touchscreen monitor optimised for Windows 8. The LL-S201A provides a resolution of 1920 x 1080, a contrast ratio of 3000:1 and processes up to 16.7 million colours to display full HD images. Its highly responsive 10-point capacitive touch interface enables people to use all fingers when operating Windows’ gesture-based controls and applications for a more immersive user experience.
‘The monitor delivers crisp, clear images and is optimised for use with Windows 8,’ says Darren Gaffey, product planning and marketing manager, Visual Solutions, Sharp. ‘Windows 8 is a great step forward. It provides a pointer to the future of how we will control computers and really comes to life when used on a touch screen. The monitor supports all the gesture features of Windows and offers a more cost-efficient way to take advantage of the software’s full capabilities as there is no need to purchase a new PC or laptop.’
The screen can be used across a wide range of applications. Retailers can provide attractive and interactive look books, point of sale and information systems in store. Car dealerships can use the screen – laying it flat on a desk and using the rotate function – to give a customer a detailed virtual tour of the exact specification they have selected for their car.
In the classroom the screen can be connected to Sharp’s BIG PAD interactive whiteboards. A pupil can write on the large screen while the teacher can use the LL-S201A to draw and make notes with both of their inputs appearing on the BIG PAD display. Similarly in meetings, a presenter can write on the BIG PAD and other team members can make notes on the LL-S201A with their notes appearing on the big screen.
