Christie® announces that its RGB pure laser and Xenon projection solutions are being used at the 49th annual Toronto International Film Festival® (TIFF), taking place from September 5 to 15 across various city theatres. This marks Christie’s 24th consecutive year as a Festival sponsor.
As the Official Digital Projection Partner, Christie’s cinema projectors are installed in five venues, including Scotiabank Theatre, where they are featured on half of the screens. The RGB pure laser and Xenon-based projectors are also in use at Roy Thomson Hall, Royal Alexandra Theatre, and Princess of Wales Theatre.
Christie’s RGB pure laser cinema projectors, which utilise Real|Laser™ illumination, offer high-quality, detailed, and vibrant images while being recognised for their energy efficiency and sustainability.
Diane Cappelletto, Director of Technical Production Services at TIFF, stated, “Christie’s long-term support has been crucial in enhancing TIFF’s cinemas and screening venues. Their advanced technology has significantly improved the movie-going experience. We value Christie’s ongoing partnership, which has contributed to the Festival’s success.”
Festival attendees are invited to a Christie-sponsored microsession, “Amplifying the Audience Experience – How Technology is Changing Cinema’s Future,” on September 9 at 10 a.m. at the Glenn Gould Conference Centre. The session will discuss the effects of projection technology on audience experience, cinema operations, and technology upgrades. Allan Fernandes, Senior Product Manager, Cinema at Christie, will moderate the session.
