Seamless integration of Crestron control systems and ekey fingerprint access devices makes home entry more secure, convenient, and worry-free

Cobham, Surrey – November 15th, 2018 – Crestron, the global leader in custom home automation and control technology, announced today that ekey biometric systems GmbH, a leading provider of fingerprint access solutions, is now an official Crestron integration partner. The sleek wall-mounted ekey finger scanners integrate seamlessly with Crestron 3-Series® control systems. Now, Crestron residential integrators can introduce convenient one-touch door entry to their smart home designs. Fingerprint door entry also enhances security by eliminating hackable 4-digit codes and the possibility of key or access card forgery.

“ekey and Crestron took up the challenge of making door entry more secure and convenient,” said Michael Short, Global Residential Marketing Manager for Crestron. “To deliver on that, we focused on one of the aspects that makes us unique as human beings – fingerprints. Now, in essence, your finger is the key to your Crestron smart home.”

    Ekey The future is now

ekey products provide a convenient, secure, and simple alternative to conventional entry access. They leverage biometric processes to provide reliable added security, and make stolen keys, cards, and forgotten passwords or codes a thing of the past. It’s impossible to lock yourself out of your home, as your finger is always, literally, on hand. Intelligent software even detects the growth of children’s’ fingers, minor injuries, and habit changes. They provide the additional benefit of enabling building control systems to track who’s coming in.

“As a specialist in fingerprint technology and a proven vendor of outdoor rated fingerprint readers, we are very excited about our partnership with Crestron and the possibilities of this advanced integration. It’s like turning Crestron into a biometric access control system by itself, featuring simplified administration centrally via – for instance – a Crestron touch screen. By saving multiple fingerprints of individual users, different functions can be triggered. Whereas your right index finger will become your new key for unlocking your front door, your left index finger will trigger a silent alarm when used under duress.”

    Easy integration

Easy to install and administer, ekey products are currently compatible with Crestron 3-Series control systems with a RS485 COM port, and SIMPL Windows software.
