Holotronica Unveils DarkMat®, an Advanced Light Absorption System to Enhance the Holographic Illusion.

DarkMat® is a 1-metre square tile for the floor and wall that is designed to be placed behind the Hologauze® to eliminate all reflections from the projection and lighting. With 98% reduction in unwanted spill, the realism of the holographic experience is enhanced, and more viewing angles and audience possibilities are unlocked, especially for tiered seating setups.

The DarkMat® tiles are highly durable and designed for quick and accurate assembly with magnets on the North and South polarity, so they lock together and stay in place, this allows actors and dancers to perform confidently across the DarkMat® floor. A proprietary DarkMat® filter acts as a polarizer and is laminated on top of the projector to further enhance the image quality.

Hologauze® is the ‘only patented’ and fully silvered gauze available, delivering unrivalled transparency, contrast and gain. It features a finer weave with double the reflective coating of comparative products, making it ideal for productions featuring 2D or 3D Stereoscopic polarised video projection.

Hologauze® has transformed the production, design and delivery of large-scale holographic illusions for touring stage shows, theatre productions and experience at theme parks and events.

Stuart Warren-Hill, Director at Holotronica comments:

“This innovation in light absorption is taking us into the next phase of holographic image delivery. By eliminating almost all spill effects, we can revolutionise hologram effects in environments where light spill requires more refinement and can also be used for reducing spotlight bounce off shiny floors onto cycloramas and XR Studio productions which could potentially have massive implications.

“The DarkMat® System is much more effective than Vantablack in side by side tests with video projection and much more user friendly, quicker and easier to assemble and a safer material to handle and work with.”
