Joe & The Juice UK update 30 of its UK stores

Pioneer Group were selected by Joe & The Juice UK to work with their appointed retail design agency to upgrade all UK sites (30 in total) to Digital Menu Boards. Joe & The Juice, a food and beverage retailer renowned for their excellent coffee and smoothies, were using static menu lightboxes; The management decided to upgrade all of these to digital screens. The current solution was out of date and did not offer the chain the dynamic solution they needed to keep menus updated and drive sales of key items. Joe and The Juice’s team were looking for a one-stop shop to provide a complete turnkey solution. The brief included power, data, decoration, and AV installation and commissioning services. Pioneer combined all these services through its three main divisions AV, IT Infrastructure & Electrical, making us an ideal partner.

    The Approach

Pioneer initially carried out site surveys at all sites to determine the size of screen required, mounting options, cable routes, power, data and access requirements. With multiple trades involved, careful planning was required to ensure works could be completed in a single visit.

Due to the type of work required, installations were planned out of hours to cause minimal disruption to stores, and all works were completed overnight in one visit. We meticulously coordinated all trades through the night for smooth delivery, ready for store opening the following day. Works were scheduled over a six-week programme.

Pioneer pre-staged, quality checked and commissioned all hardware in their dedicated staging workshop before installation to negate any potential issues onsite. Systems were packaged store by store and sent to the site.

Weekly project meetings ensured the project ran smoothly, to schedule and within budget. In addition, we carried out workshops and provided handover documentation to ensure consistency between installation teams.

    The Solution

The primary digital menu board solution consisted of the B-Tech System X mounting rail and five Samsung QM55R displa§1ys per store. Displays were mounted in portrait orientation, and content is run via the system on chip (SoC) on the QM-R series displays. The content was provided and will be managed by Joe & The Juice HQ team.

Sakari Kingelin | Head of UK Supply Chain | Joe in the Juice UK commented, “We have carried out several installations with Pioneer Group since launching the brand in the UK. Their ability to cater for all the AV, IT and Electrical works make them an obvious choice for us as a company. We have one point of contact, and it means that the work can be carried out quickly without hiccups, allowing us to keep our stores open.”
