Key appointment for CDEC
Brett O’Connor joins CDEC Ltd as Director, with immediate effect.
The successful businessman has previously managed a £50m+ technology logistics firm and brings with him a wealth of experience to underpin and support the management team at CDEC.
Brett will assist and work in partnership with Managing Director, Toni Barnett. Toni will continue to run the daily and strategic operations of the business.
The move comes six months on from the untimely loss of CDEC’s owner and founder, Andy Duckworth. Despite this unforeseen turbulence, the business goes from strength to strength having successfully broken into the Higher Education market, working with a large number of prestigious Universities on multi million pound projects.
Managing Director, Toni Barnett, is confident that now is the right time for the business to move to new levels: “As one of the UK’s leading AV Reseller / Integrators, with a speciality in the education market, it is our mission to continue to lead the industry in providing bespoke, innovative, fit for purpose AV solutions to clients across the country.
With a strong focus on upholding our excellent standards of service delivery, our aim for the next three years is to grow and develop the business through maximising potential within both existing and new markets.
Brett’s experience, support, guidance and insight will help the business to achieve these goals. We are delighted to have him on board and look forward to a successful partnership.
Together, we will build on our full service offering of ‘design, plan, source, install, train, maintain’ to ensure that we are the only AV firm that clients need. Our friendly, knowledgeable and professional staff will continue to focus on understanding the needs of, and inspiring our customers.”
Brett said: “I am really looking forward to working with CDEC and will enjoy the new challenge. Toni and all of the team demonstrate a true passion for an industry that interests me greatly. The future is incredibly bright for this already high achieving business. I will assist in developing the business across new client sectors and helping it move forward to achieve new goals.”
Both Toni and Brett will be attending ISE and will be available for interviews on Wednesday 10th February 2016

More info re: Brett O’Connor
Brett’s first steps into the world of business were in the late 1970’s when, at the young age of 19, he joined a newly formed company in the freight and transportation industry. Here he discovered he had a natural instinct for management, development and sales, and the drive to implement the growth and development of the company.
By diversifying into new sectors, such as the music industry, moving music media around the world, the company developed and progressed to become a service provider during the emergence of the computer gaming industry. The business globally delivered freight and logistical services to Virgin Mastertronics, which later became SEGA, and for other developing technology firms including computer, audio, visual, and high technology brands and peripherals.
The company was successfully built into a turnover in the excess of 50 million.
Brett’s entrepreneurship coupled with his self-motivation, drive and vision have enabled him to diversify his business interests into the fields of air filtration, manufacture, sales and distribution, BEMS technology management, installation and maintenance and electrical installation.
Brett lives in Berkshire and is a proud father of four grown up children.
