Lightware has unveiled the Taurus UCX-4×3-HCM40, a next-generation UCX device designed to deliver true dual-screen extended desktop functionality over a single USB-C connection. Supporting up to two independent 4K60 displays with USB 3.1 device control, up to 100W charging, and seamless compatibility across macOS, Windows, and tablets. The Taurus UCX-4×3-HCM40 is optimising efficiency and user experience in hybrid meeting spaces.

The Taurus UCX-4×3-HCM40 is the industry’s first collaboration device to offer genuine dual-screen USB-C extended desktop support into a single compact device. By overcoming the display limitations of Apple M1/M2/M3 devices and eliminating the need for multiple adapters or additional hardware, it empowers users to connect, collaborate, and present with confidence. The device automatically switches between DisplayPort MultiStream and DisplayLink technologies to ensure optimal performance based on the connected source. It also includes Gigabit Ethernet, USB3 device sharing, HDMI I/O, GPIO, occupancy sensors, RS232, and Lightware’s Open API for full integration with third-party control systems.

With Lightware Advanced Room Automation (LARA), the UCX-4×3-HCM40 enables smart logic functions which includes automatic switching and routing as well as the ability to automatically control the room equipment like, lights, shutters, peripherals, displays and present a custom welcome screen that prompts users to “Connect the USB-C cable” when someone enters a room.” These features reduce friction and enhance the overall experience, especially in BYOD environments.

LARA receives real-time call status feedback from the Lightware Companion App, automatically managing USB peripherals and screen expansion based on UC platforms such as Microsoft Teams or Zoom activity—without requiring any user interaction. Once programmed, the device operates discreetly, with flexible installation options under tables, behind displays, or inside lockable racks. For the end user, only the USB-C cable and the room touch panel are visible, creating a clean and intuitive setup. As with all Taurus UCX devices, the 4×3-HCM40 is built with long-term sustainability and enterprise-grade reliability in mind. A planned USB-A connector enhances usability, while a separate USB 3.1 Host switching layer supports multiple USB hosts and devices. The remotely manageable firmware updates ensure. updates ensure that the device remains compatible and future-ready for years to come. By reducing cable clutter, integrating multiple AV functions, and lowering power consumption, the Taurus UCX-4×3-HCM40 contributes to sustainability efforts in meeting spaces worldwide—reducing electronic waste while streamlining system design. “At Lightware, our goal is to deliver technologies that combine performance, reliability and forward-thinking design,” said Gergely Vida – CEO of Lightware. “The Taurus UCX-4×3-HCM40 is a reflection of this approach, offering enterprise-grade performance that simplifies room integration while supporting the evolving needs of modern workspaces.”
