    New ActivBoard Touch from Promethean

Promethean has expanded its support of collaborative digital learning with the introduction of new ActivBoard Touch interactive whiteboards that support up to six simultaneous unique touches for enhanced flexibility in classroom instruction and activities.

activboard-touch-mount-system-ustp1-a-web72“Twenty-first century educators are shifting students’ learning experience beyond simple knowledge transfer and memorization, instead emphasizing the development of collaborative problem solving skills,” said Scott Cary, Chief Marketing and Products Officer at Promethean. “By evolving digital surfaces in the classroom to better facilitate group learning through multi-touch capability, we can support teachers and help cultivate active, motivated learners.”

Responding to global market demands, the ActivBoard Touch’s six-touch surface provides a powerful, user-friendly technology that enlivens whole-class and small-group instruction. Its ability to support group interactivity allows students to interact with lesson content and each other, share ideas, work on a project or master a concept. With functionality similar to today’s mobile devices, the design of the ActivBoard Touch eliminates the technology learning curve. Intuitive gestures such as swipe, pinch and zoom manage the surface and content display. The six-touch model is also compatible with Windows, Mac OSX and Linux operating systems for seamless integration with a school’s existing technology infrastructure.

Adaptable and versatile, teachers and students can switch between touch functionality and a stylus depending on the material being covered. A dry-erase surface option layers a “simple mode” under the board’s interactive functionality to create solutions for every learning occasion in the classroom. In addition, the dry-erase finish helps the stylus glide smoothly across the surface for instruction that requires precise writing.

“As today’s classrooms experience a paradigm shift toward increased collaboration amongst students, we continue to grow and refine our product offerings to meet the needs of teachers and students,” said Cary.

The latest introduction of the ActivBoard Touch is powered by Promethean’s ActivInspire Professional Edition software and includes access to Promethean Planet’s more than 80,000 free teacher resources and online professional development. Available in 78-inch and 88-inch surfaces, the six-touch board and dry-erase surface option will be available worldwide at the end of July 2014.
