AMX has responded to the frustrations with clumsy, retractable cable solutions and messy conference room tables with the launch of the new AMX HydraPort Cable Retractor Modules. AMX realised early on in the design phase of the new Retractor Modules that the answer to a better solution was in the cable itself. Off-the-shelf cables are used that were never designed to be rolled up. AMX has designed new cables that ensure efficient, trouble-free retraction and a level of AV fidelity that exceeds that of a standard cable. AMX Retractor Modules are said to be, on average, 85% more compact than market alternatives.
Each of the four new Retractor Modules support a specific AV format (HDMI, DisplayPort, Ethernet and RGB with Audio) and can be installed in any of the 600, 900 or 1200 HydraPort base assemblies. AMX is also making the new cables available for additional use under carpet or anywhere a flat cable is desired.
For BYOD environments, the announcement of two new Dual USB HydraPort Modules offers a solution which doubles the number of USB ports in a single module, maximising HydraPort real estate, while lowering cost. For applications where both network connectivity and charging are needed, the Dual USB Module with Printed USB Symbol will be available. For applications where full USB power charging for mobile devices is required, the Dual USB Module with Printed Charging Symbol module will be available.
