New Panasonic digital signage displays include outdoor options.

Panasonic Europe has announced that its four new LCD displays for the digital signage market.  Unveiled originally in June, these displays are designed for a broad range of digital signage applications including Point of Sale and Point of Information (POS/POI) screens, transport applications and outdoor signage solutions.

As outdoor digital signage has become increasingly attractive to retail, commercial and transport facilities, Panasonic has added two new models to the LF range which are designed specifically these types of outdoor applications. The LFP30 models can withstand harsh weather conditions and comply with the IP66 standard for weather resistance meaning they are protected against water and dust penetration. The aluminium cabinet and tempered glass front make the panels rugged and durable, while the winter-mode ensures the screens are effective in temperatures as low as -20oc.

The High Brightness (1.000 cd/m2(*2))  of the LFP30 is ideally suited to outdoor applications, including advertising and  Point of Sale. Available in 42” & 47” models it is suitable for installation in factories, public spaces, and transport facilities where exposure to rain and dust can be expected.

The 47” LFT30 display has an integrated touch panel, a combination of LCD trans-reflective technology, the highest level of brightness (1.500 cd/m2(*2)) and a forced-air cooling system that allows the display to be used even in direct sunlight. This series is standard equipped with protection against water and dust at a level equivalent to IP53, allowing interactive applications in public spaces and facilities such as information kiosks in shopping centres. The strong colour and brightness of the displays ensure images can be seen regardless of weather conditions or viewing angles.

For ambient light conditions such as shop windows, the brighter LF30 series, available in 42” and 47”, has an ambient light sensor to control the backlight and comes with Panasonic’s original function slots, “SLOT2.0”, allowing users to change interfaces or internal computers quickly and easily depending on the signal source.

“We are delighted to launch these new LCDs onto the market as they are ideal for a huge range of digital signage applications from retail to public transport facilities, and will satisfy the needs of any customer looking for a mid-size high-performance LCD”, said David Martin, General Marketing Manager, Panasonic Displays, “We are particularly thrilled with our new weatherproof and touch-screen LCD as it’s a testament to our continued innovation in the display industry and will open up new opportunities for a wide range of customers.”

The new LCDs are flexible and can be installed in a range of different environments. While most of the models are designed for high ambient light environments, the LF25 series, available in 42” & 47”, is more for indoor signage applications as it features a slim frame suitable for standard POS and POI screens and menu boards. They offer a wide-viewing angle IPS panel with vertical or horizontal use and a wide option of standard terminals.
