Brompton Technology has been named a recipient of the 2025 King’s Award for Enterprise in Innovation, an official recognition granted to UK businesses for notable achievements.
The company is one of 197 organisations across the UK to receive a King’s Award this year, recognised specifically in the Innovation category. In total, 199 Awards have been granted in 2025, with two organisations receiving recognition in two separate categories.
Founded in 2011, Brompton Technology specialises in LED video processing and employs 79 people across its UK headquarters and international offices. Its Tessera platform is used in live events and is part of the growing use of virtual production techniques in film and television. Brompton’s technology has been used in concert tours for artists such as Taylor Swift and Ed Sheeran, as well as in film and television productions including Barbie, The Mandalorian, and House of the Dragon.
The King’s Award recognises Brompton’s innovation in developing the Tessera SX40, which set a new standard for LED video processing. Supporting 4K workflows with a robust 10G fibre-based data distribution model, Tessera SX40 solves critical bandwidth and cabling challenges for large LED screens in demanding environments. Its advanced Dynamic Calibration technology dramatically improve LED panel uniformity and brightness without the compromises of traditional calibration methods, while its free software updates have introduced powerful new capabilities including ShutterSync, which allows LED refresh rates to be fine-tuned to match camera settings, Extended Bit Depth for superior HDR performance, 3D LUT import for advanced colour grading, and Frame Remapping, enabling the display of multiple camera views on a single LED wall.
These, and many other, ongoing enhancements, delivered via software rather than hardware upgrades, have allowed Brompton’s processors to evolve alongside its customers’ needs, preserving investment and extending the usable life of LED panels, a strategy that not only delivers technical excellence but also embodies a sustainable approach to product development. This philosophy of designing for longevity and backwards compatibility has strengthened Brompton’s position as a trusted technology partner across live entertainment, broadcast, education, esports, corporate AV, and premium signage.
Brompton Technology’s LED processing solutions have been used in virtual production workflows as an alternative to traditional green screen techniques. These systems enable the creation of digital environments within studio settings, which can help reduce some of the environmental and logistical demands associated with on-location filming. The use of such technology became more prominent during the pandemic and continues to be adopted by productions seeking operational efficiencies.
“We are pleased to receive a King’s Award for Enterprise in Innovation, following our Queen’s Award for Enterprise in International Trade in 2020,” says Richard Mead, CEO of Brompton Technology. “This recognition reflects the ongoing efforts of our team and the development of the Tessera SX40, which has also received other awards including an Emmy from the Television Academy in Los Angeles. Our focus remains on delivering reliable solutions and technical support to our customers.”
The King’s Awards for Enterprise, previously known as The Queen’s Awards for Enterprise, were renamed in 2023 to continue the legacy of HM Queen Elizabeth II. Now in its 59th year, the programme is considered one of the UK’s most established business award schemes. Recipients are granted use of the King’s Awards Emblem for five years. Applications for the 2026 round of awards open on 6 May 2025.
