MegaPath Corporation is extending its cloud-delivered UC video services to its hosted PBX customers. The service will use plug-and-play desktop voice and video solutions from Polycom.
MegaPath announced its planned availability and support of high-definition (HD) point-to-point video services for its hosted PBX customers using solutions built around Polycom’s VVX Business Media Phones and Polycom VVX Cameras. These are said to offer plug-and-play installation to turn Polycom VVX 500 and 600 Business Media Phones into high-resolution video collaboration environments.
Users install the 720p HD video camera simply by plugging it into the integrated USB port at the top of the phone. No software drivers are required, which means they can join a video conference in a matter of seconds. The service works over existing VoIP networks, so deployment is easy and cost-effective. In addition to the Polycom VVX 500 and Polycom VVX 600, MegaPath currently supports face-to-face video collaboration using the Polycom VVX 1500 Business Media Phone.
The Polycom VVX 500 and Polycom VVX 600 Business Media Phones feature gesture-based, multi-touch capable, capacitive touchscreens and an intuitive user interface that delivers the familiar tap-and-swipe usability of smartphones and tablets to the desktop. Video features include a privacy shutter, adjustable tilt, multiple video screen modes, side-by-side and PIP (picture-in-picture) window modes, and adjustable frame rates.
John Scarborough, Senior Vice President of Product and Marketing at MegaPath explains:. “As the demand for face-to-face video collaboration delivered from the cloud continues to grow, MegaPath’s support of Polycom VVX Business Media Phones meets that demand with an affordable, superior-quality desktop voice and video solution that exceeds their expectations and can adapt to meet their future business needs.”
