Techconnect’s new ‘Matrix’ leverages existing IP infrastructure to create an AV matrix or video wall with up to 199 displays. The devices can be powered by standard network PoE or included power supplies. It converts HDMI into native TCP/IP packets which can be transmitted over a network. It uses the latest generation chipset and almost completely lossless JPEG2000 compression (which gives no visible latency or degradation). Audio is packetized with the image to ensure accurate synchronisation.
Up to 200 devices can be used on a LAN. So you might use it as a simple multicast distribution system with one transmitter and 199 receivers, or you might setup a matrix for example with 10 x transmitters with 190 receivers. It uses 200mbps of bandwidth per transmitter.
Setup software finds the devices on the network and allows drag-and-drop setup of the matrix. It also supports comprehensive setup of a video wall where it divides one source into segments. If you are not a network engineer don’t worry – Vision provides instructions for network dummies backed up by excellent support. Techconnect is shipping now and transmitters have an SSP of £300 / €350 each, while receivers are £ 360 / €425 each.
