Newbury & Crookham Golf Club, established in 1873, is one of the oldest clubs in England, with 600 members who enjoy the 18-hole, par 69 course set amongst mature woodland. The Club approached ViewSonic about developing an immersive indoor golf practice experience. The concept would allow club members to practice golf in any weather at a number of virtual locations, whilst under the supervision and guidance of the club’s professional golf instructor.
The project enabled the club to realise the development of a fully-immersive and realistic indoor golf simulation experience.

Two ViewSonic AV solutions were selected to provide the most efficient method of installation, and the most immersive experience for both practice and coaching – the ViewSonic Pro8530HDL installation projector and ViewSonic CDE6561T interactive flat panel. Combined, these AV solutions deliver an efficient installation, a highly-immersive experience, and the capability to assess and analyse player skills to complement the golf club professional’s supervision and coaching -all within the client’s budget.
Results
The Pro8530HDL is a Full HD projector designed for large venue projection. The projector utilises a unique flexible installation design and intuitive functionality to deliver an immersive wide screen simulated viewing experience on a large 4.5 m screen.
The CDE6561T is a fully interactive HD resolution display with 20-point touch which, when paired with PC-less operation and annotation software, allows multiple users to write and draw on the display simultaneously. The system will be used for interactive assessment of players’ skills, including analysis of grip, swing, angle of impact, force and direction of play.
The project enabled the club to realise the development of a fully-immersive and realistic indoor golf simulation experience. Quick installation also minimised inconvenience and enabled the club to promote an exciting new all-weather facility.
Moreover, a number of additional benefits have been realised as well, including an increase in member attendance and engagement, positive customer feedback, and an excellent review from the club’s professional golfer.
