Anevia (now ATEME), the leader in video delivery solutions for broadcast, cable, DTH, IPTV and OTT, today announced that its Flamingo headend is being deployed to enable next-generation TV entertainment for the whole family in the SODIC October Plaza compound, a major residential development in Egypt’s 6th of October City, in the Greater Cairo area.

With the ATEME Flamingo headend, Sodic now has an IPTV infrastructure for the compound’s residents, ready for a range of linear and Web-based TV services including video-on-demand (VOD), OTT capabilities and customizable virtual channels, as well as digital signage and community advertising. Using their smart devices connected to the high-speed Wi-Fi service accessible in all the Plaza’s public spaces, including swimming pools and children’s play areas, residents would be able to continue to watch their favorite programs wherever they are in the compound.

Having recently joined the ATEME group, Anevia is now part of a stronger, more diversified company that continues to invest in innovations for video delivery. Its latest version of Flamingo is a versatile and feature-rich head-end available on D4 and D11 servers or in a software format designed to run directly on either a commercial off-the-shelf (COTS) server or a virtual machine to reduce operational costs. New features include video-on-demand (VOD) capabilities with upgraded storage capacity that can support hundreds of hours of viewing, up to 4K/Ultra HD quality.

”October Plaza is designed to provide residents with a luxurious and exclusive lifestyle. This includes bringing the latest technologies to cater for the entertainment needs of the whole family,” says Hisham Salah, Chief Information Officer of SODIC. “We have worked with ATEME on our other developments since 2016, and have found the Flamingo head-end to be a highly reliable solution that is simple to deploy and low maintenance while also providing all our residents with access to a broad selection of TV channels  wherever and whenever they want. This made selecting ATEME for the October Plaza development an easy decision.”

Yoann Poizeau, VP of EMEA from ATEME said: ”We are delighted to have been chosen once again to provide our head-ends for this latest SODIC development. With the deployment of the Flamingo head-end and the widespread growth in smart devices, SODIC is now ready to offer October Plaza residents the most advanced TV services – including creating its own virtual channels to promote local news and events to the whole community. Finally, with ATEME’s acquisition of Anevia, SODIC will also benefit from all advantages of enlarged group serving customers worldwide”.
