MUSHANG has expanded its video production capabilities with the launch of the MUSHANG VFX Lab in Sydney, the largest permanent virtual production studio in the city. The new facility is equipped with industry-leading technology, including Brompton Technology LED processing, to handle high-end film, television, and advertising projects with advanced virtual production solutions.
The Sydney-based VFX Lab focuses on virtual production, offering technical support and high-performance equipment to production teams. This complements the existing MUSHANG Shanghai studio, which provides comprehensive services for commercial advertising from concept through execution.
“We’re excited to bring MUSHANG’s extensive experience to our first virtual production facility in Australia,” says Henry Sha, CEO & Founder of MUSHANG VFX Lab. “The studio features top-tier equipment from trusted partners, including Brompton Technology, ROE Visual, Disguise, and Sony, ensuring the highest quality virtual production services for our clients.”
The studio’s LED setup uses ROE Visual BP2V2 panels for the main wall and CB5 MK2 panels for the ceiling, calibrated with Brompton’s Hydra system for HDR-ready visuals and near-8K resolution. The system is powered by Brompton’s Tessera SX40 processors and distribution units, offering exceptional clarity and performance. Since opening in September, the studio has completed two commercial projects, both utilising Brompton’s Tessera features, including High Frame Rate (HFR+), which adds new creative possibilities for production teams.
One of the studio’s first major projects was a commercial for Hungry Jack’s, an Australian fast-food chain. “Feedback from directors and cinematographers has been overwhelmingly positive, with particular praise for the capabilities of our virtual production studio,” Sha says. “The combination of Brompton and ROE Visual offers the perfect setup for virtual production in both advertising and film.”
The MUSHANG VFX Lab is located in Alexandria, just 10 minutes from Sydney’s city centre, offering easy access and ample space for productions of all sizes. “We’re excited about future collaborations across film, television, and beyond,” adds Sha.
“We’re proud to support MUSHANG’s success in Sydney,” says Elijah Ebo, Director of APAC Operations at Brompton. “The synergy between Brompton’s LED processing technology and the high-end equipment at MUSHANG VFX Lab is setting a new standard for virtual production. We look forward to continuing our partnership and supporting their ongoing success.”
Sha concludes, “After three successful years with our first virtual studio in Shanghai, we remain committed to Bromptonand our trusted partners. The combination of Brompton, ROE Visual, Disguise, and MRMC Bolt has been instrumental in our growth, and we’re confident it will continue to drive our success for many years to come.”
