Hitachi Digital Media Group has announced a new series of versatile multi purpose LCD projectors. Principal improvements in this workhorse range include increased image contrast and the option of wireless networking that provides access to a wide variety of network-enabled functions to aid usability and management.

The new range is comprised of three XGA models: CPX2514WN, CPX3014WN, CPX4014WN and the CPWX3014WN widescreen WXGA projector, all with optional wireless connectivity. The models range from an output of 2700 Lumens through to 4000 Lumens and all four projectors feature a refined version of the Hitachi Active Iris technology that delivers industry leading contrast performance of 3000:1 in any ambient light condition.

“While these projectors might look the same as their highly popular predecessors, the new models offer users, buyers and the environment the benefits of a complete and innovative overhaul under the skin.” said Axel Kutschke, senior manager, presentation products for Hitachi Digital Media Group. “The upgraded feature set that offers improved connectivity options, easier management and increased contrast in all conditions can be found across the range, so that the widest range of users can benefit from the improvements.”

As part of Hitachi’s continuing effort to improve the usability and management of projectors in any environment, all of the models now feature support for Crestron RoomView software. This is the first time that this defacto industry standard, which provides a custom configurable interface to monitor, manage and control every device in every room remotely from any computer, is available on 3LCD projectors.

Hitachi's new LCD range for business and education.

To further aid usability and quality in digitally enabled classrooms and meeting rooms, all of the models now offer HDMI connectivity as well as the option of the latest wireless IEEE802.11n networking standard that brings added convenience to any environment.

Network management and control has also been improved across the range. The Campus Notification System provides a text messenger function with AUDIO alarm for any or all projectors on the network, while Moderator Control Mode assists in controlling the flow of a meeting or class by managing the display of images from up to four different PC’s. In addition to this Multi-PC Mode, it is now possible via Multi-Projector Mode to connect up to 12 projectors to a single PC which is useful for meetings and lectures in large venues where a single screen would not be sufficient. Apple Mac support will also be available for both PJ Control and LiveViewer software.

Projector management is also aided by small but significant features such as the repositioning of the MAC address label onto the side of the projector, which makes network set up and identification much easier. The serial number of the projector, as well as in its normal position of the side of the case, is now also accessible via the new EASY Menu, which further helps the management of groups of networked projectors.

These models also retain the popular features from earlier models including renowned Hitachi security capability, conveniently located access to the filter and lamp, PC-less Presentation and powerful but easy to use software driven functionality such as Input Source Naming and the Template function. In addition the Auto Eco Mode feature always starts the projector in Eco mode even when it was in Normal mode when it was switched off. This ensures that lamp life is maximised and power consumption reduced.

The new models will become available across Europe from July 2011 with the CPX2514WN, while the remaining models will follow in August.
