PMA Research has published their latest sell-through tracking reports on large-format (32-inch and larger) flat panel displays being sold by leading North American Pro AV dealers, systems integrators and Distributors who typically serve commercial markets.
Sales of direct-view LED (dvLED) products through the Distribution channel have shown strong growth over the past two years. In June, sales of dvLED shown in PMA’s Distributor Tracking registered the highest revenue year-to-date. July sales followed closely behind and remained slightly higher than the monthly average for 2023. Like all display sales, dvLED revenues have slowed in 2023 but the total sales through distribution remains strong relative to other display technologies.
In addition, the pixel pitch size has been steadily declining with more than 75% of the volume below 2.0 mm. A year ago, less than 60% of the volume was that narrow.
Systems integrators in the Pro AV channel have seen an uptick in projects involving dvLED as well. While dvLED installations are complex, they are becoming easier to configure and install as manufacturers improve the product offerings with bundled solutions instead of custom builds. The wide variety of videowall solutions allow for new projects in the corporate, higher-ed and retail segments in places where traditional tiled LCD video-walls would have been impossible.
In August, more than half the DvLED’s sold were All-in-One models, the largest share ever for the Pro AV channel. These units are gaining in popularity in places like hotel meeting rooms, conference centre’s, and ballroom spaces.
