Steljes signs Phonak for classroom audio

Steljes has signed an exclusive agreement with Phonak to distribute its range of Dynamic Soundfield classroom amplification systems in the UK. Phonak’s team of scientists and specialists have developed a new classroom amplification system called Dynamic SoundField, comprising of a wireless speaker microphone (inspiro) and the Red Dot award winning DigiMaster loudspeaker.

Phonak's Dynamic Soundfield solution in use.

The inspiro microphone measures the noise level in the room and automatically adjusts its audio parameters to ensure the teacher’s words are amplified without increasing the overall noise level, allowing students to clearly hear and understand commands without the system creating feedback or echo. This is particularly important as research over the last 40 years has shown that noise has detrimental effects upon children’s performance at school, including reduced memory, motivation, and reading ability*.

“Steljes was the natural choice for us to partner with in the UK. We have given them exclusive distributor status as we believe that they are the leading distributor in the education market. Not only do they have a wide network of resellers who have extensive knowledge of the education market, they also have their own nationwide team of education business consultants – many of whom are ex-teachers – and who can advise schools on how our classroom amplification system can help them achieve improved outcomes in learning.” comments Gareth Jones, UK Business Development Manager, Phonak Dynamic SoundField.

Martine Dodwell-Bennett, sales and marketing director at Steljes, adds “The amount of teaching days per year lost due to vocal strain is staggering – a survey by the RNID in 2008 found that in primary schools, more than 70,000 teaching days a year were lost to vocal strain, costing around £15 million. The Dynamic SoundField system fills a gap in the market. It is the only sound system that automatically amplifies a teacher’s voice without increasing the overall noise level.  With schools constantly looking at areas where they can reduce their outgoings, the system can help schools reduce the amount of teaching days lost due to vocal strain whilst at the same time enhancing the learning experience for pupils. The Dynamic SoundField system represents an excellent opportunity for our resellers.”
